Checking balances at an ATM

There are quite a few regulatory changes taking place. Because we already complied with nearly all of the improvements, you won't notice many changes. One of the ones you will notice is when you visit an ATM to check your current balance. Regulation DD requires that an inquiry at an ATM cannot include any funds that are in an account separate from your checking, but could be used to cover any overdrafts. So if you check your balance at an ATM, the only information available will be your current balance in your share draft checking account, not your savings. If you want to check your savings balance, you can do so by using tellerline, virtualbranch, or by calling or visiting any of our locations.

'Worm' message

Several members have notified us that they received a message on their home computer advising that they were infected with a worm and a special software program is required to take care of the problem. This is a scam, designed to get you to give your debit card information. Please be extremely cautious when shopping online with your debit or credit cards. Be sure you type in the website you want to go to (instead of clicking a link), and look for 'https' in the address or a padlock in the bar at the bottom of your page to make sure the page is secure before putting in any personal information. This message is in no way connected to AAFCU; and we will never request personal information such as account numbers by email or online. If you have become a victim of a scam like this one, contact us immediately so that your account can be blocked for your protection.

Lost Visa?

If your Visa credit or debit card is lost or stolen, contact AAFCU immediately to protect yourself from financial loss! If our offices are closed, report the loss to Visa directly at 1-800-433-0505.

Protection for your AAFCU Visa

To help protect you from credit or debit card fraud, your credit union provides you with enhanced fraud protection. If your credit or debit card transaction appears to fall outside of your usual spending pattern, an alert is created. A fraud analyst or automated voice system will then contact you, using the contact numbers in our data system, to verify whether you authorized this transaction which does not fit your historical card spending behavior. Part of the verification will be to ask you to confirm the last 4 digits of your social security number on file. If we are not successful in contacting you, a decision will be made on your behalf to block future transactions until you can be reached for confirmation. It is extremely important that we have your most up to date phone numbers. This is part of our ongoing efforts to provide you with the best protection available for your AAFCU credit/debit cards. On your next visit to our office, please confirm that the numbers we have on file are correct so that we can reach you quickly. If you receive a call of this nature and you have any concerns at all, please don't hesitate to call and talk with us.
